All politics is emotional

I’ve long admired the writing of Jared Yates Sexton. He often digs into the emotional substrate beneath our authoritarian era. In this conversation, we dug into that substrate together, and I think struck some ideas that will be important not just for moving past the Trump era but also for inventing the culture after it. Tip O’Neill famously said all politics is local. But what if all politics is, in fact, emotional?
