Why do I get this impression that the corrupt and unlawful supreme court is being left out of this? I agree that having Mr. Trump back in office says a whole lot about us as a people. However, I don't see a national crime that can be more severe than attempting to usurp power as Mr. Trump did on January 6, 2021. Isn't a supreme court that found ways to block the prosecution of Mr. Trump for that crime far more responsible for the current state of affairs? That supreme court still continues to manipulate the law to allow Mr. Trump to continue his mayhem even today.
The damning person…. Did it happen to be Joe Manchin who is currently on a book tour and testing the waters for a Presidential Run? Any politician who does not protect the environment above all else fails to understand how many of us are at risk at this time. Forget global warming for a moment, if you need to. Let’s look at the pollution of potable water. Just stop right there and you know the answer.
American voters remind me of junkies looking for the more exciting hit. They don’t discriminate between policies or solutions, but between media highs and entertainment. Every movie has to be better than the last, every episode more dramatic, every election has more flare and entertainment value. Americans lost sight of using elections to secure democracy. The peoples’ government no longer exists.
But we are broken too because Putin has used psychological warfare on America--creating this polarization in the process. Trump was recruited a long time ago. Read "House of Trump, House of Putin" by Craig Unger. It's not an accident that this happened.
Re your final thoughts about hope and bravery in the face of confusion/uncertainty , in my world, it is often the case that breakdowns lead to breakthroughs. I trust in the potential for loss to lead to improvement. But as Miles illustrated, we have to trust in our capacity to dream and create.
I want everyone to hear this substack. Very important. But how can we have a conversation if we don’t teach or speak of our country’s history and continue to whitewash it.
Thank you for this compelling discussion, Anand and Miles. I hope I live long enough to see the day when the GOP and Democrats return to the principles on which this country was founded and built.
I believe that people who back Trump are not protecting the foundations of the Republic (the Constitution and the rule of law) and thus cannot be called Republicans and in supporting an authoritarian they have no right to fly the American flag
Absolutely we need people inside the government who are not willing to break the law when told to do so! Thank you, Miles Taylor.
Important conversation..miles has courage and anand...you ask great questions
This is absolutely one of the most important and compelling substack pieces I have seen, heard or read. Thank you, Miles and Anand.

This was such a great, insightful conversation. I'd loose my mind without these moments of clarity that Anand and his guests continue to offer.
A thoughtful and compelling interview! Thank you.

agree - the felon absolutely wants to live forever to never be erased from his - story
I think tRump has a serious blind spot for the millions of (sain) people he governs who hold even more pride in their own history.

Miles is a fascinating guest. Thanks Anand for bringing him on.
Evil, insane, crazy president and administration - full of hatred and violence and rot.
Miles Taylor is BRAVE MAN - kudos
A brilliant conversation, Anand. Lots of food for thought, as with all your conversations. Thank you.
