This interview was so inspiring! I am very excited about the book club and am thrilled to hear from Leigh. And I love Abdul El-Sayed! I had never heard of him until today but I am so glad you featured him. He really has his head on straight. I could listen to him all day. He's the kind of candidate we're hungering for.

From Dover MA watching grandsons. I keep hanging on to any ray of hope that rises. If I dwell on Trump I get so angry and am impatient. He has to stop!

I protest when I can.

Dr. El-Sayed makes me wish I lived in Michigan so I could vote for him.

Totally agree. I did donate what I could though and will be watching with interest as things progress.

Hi Pamela, I get where you're coming from! We can still help by supporting his campaign even with small amounts of $. We can also spread the word about him so he and his attitudes become more infused into the national conversation. :-)

This was a really inspiring conversation. Just what I needed to head into the weekend. The vision shared by Dr. Abdul really resonates with me. I also love the idea of being someone who creates the space where others can grow into being right, as opposed to shaming. Thank you!

The reading of the book is only step 1. It is the discussion with others that really fuels thoughts and connections with one's own situation and opinions.

Really loved this. The left should make an effort to reclaim love for this country, and what it *should look like. Patriotism is not cockiness, isolationism, ignorance, privilege - it’s the farthest thing from MAGA. I don’t live in Michigan but Dr. El-Sayed has my vote! ✌🏻

I loved this interview! I may be biased as this doctor is a public health professional, which is my own area of expertise, but I just think he's wonderful. Thank you for much for having him on, Anand.

"The opposite of Trumpism is reading."

I don't disagree with that, but how do we convince Trump supporters to do that? I flashback all the time to an overheard conversation in a restaurant before his first election. A young man was being treated to dinner by his clearly progressive grandparents who tried to teach him about the dangers of fascism, and recommended a book to him. His reply? "I'm not going to read a whole book. A magazine article, maybe."
