Trump is NOT a Republican! He’s a Grifter.

His grift is the sideshow... the distraction!

Republicans have wanted to deregulate us into oblivion and "tax break"ALL THE MONEY to the Corporate/OnePercent since FDR no matter how many of the rest of us have to suffer, go bankrupt and DIE... while Democratic voters have been satisfied with a party that doesn't do ANYTHING to fight back against it and... here we are.

It's not complex!

Himes Finally comes to the party. I think it’s a bit too late! Housing and Universal Healthcare. He’s humble!! Harvard graduate and worth several million dollars. I don’t buy it!

Himes is leaning so far to the right he sounds like a Republican even if he prefaces his comments with qualifiers. I think I understand 47 better than he does.

Hey Anand - It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, when are you going to talk about Trump’s sick psychology? How about interviewing Mary Trump? She is a clinical psychologist and Donald’s only niece.

Ross Barkan is pretty young in his thinking and a bit arrogant.

I think Michael had a good point when he said that our country is much more misogynistic and racist than what some of us thought.

What have been called far left policies since Reagan and onward with Clinton are those that have been adopted all over the developed world. Medicare for all was meant to be implemented the year following Medicare passing.

Michael Cohen praised the efforts of independent journalists, including Anand and other Substack publishers, and rightly so. He also called for more of them in order to create a larger, more powerful “community.” But, I don’t think a community accomplishes what an organized coalition, or institution, can.

In an earlier conversation, Anand spoke about the archipelago of Substack and other independent journalism platforms—and he’s right. That’s exactly what we’re seeing: a scattered cluster of islands, each doing valuable, often brilliant work, but isolated by design, business model, or ideology.

But an archipelago isn’t enough. Not now. Not when democracy itself is on the line.

These islands—these voices—need to become a landmass. A continent of truth. A force with shared infrastructure, amplified reach, and coordinated urgency. Together, they could have the power of a giant.

Because while the mainstream crumbles or caves, and while propaganda machines pump out lies with industrial precision, independent journalists are too often out there alone—shouting across the waves.

It’s time to connect the islands. Build bridges. Share resources. Synchronize truth.

Only then will this scattered archipelago become a force of accountability—one powerful enough to push back the tide of authoritarianism.

Thought provoking post. I think you’re right about linking up and strengthening the land mass. 👍🏻

Yes universal healthcare, childcare and more housing! I give Himes credit for evolving, changing and acknowledging his changing views.

I totally agree with his position on a primary for Dem. Pres. When VP Harris was thrust in (willingly, unwillingly) it was (imo) too late even for her campaign. Definitely too late for a primary.

one answer to how to get information about the budget process- Representative Melanie Stansbury from New Mexico does daily blasts on Facebook about the details of what's going on in the house- She's very detailed and articulate- I'm sure she's also on Bluesky and Instagram and probably twitter too
