Himes is leaning so far to the right he sounds like a Republican even if he prefaces his comments with qualifiers. I think I understand 47 better than he does.

Hey Anand - It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, when are you going to talk about Trump’s sick psychology? How about interviewing Mary Trump? She is a clinical psychologist and Donald’s only niece.

I totally agree with his position on a primary for Dem. Pres. When VP Harris was thrust in (willingly, unwillingly) it was (imo) too late even for her campaign. Definitely too late for a primary.

Yes universal healthcare, childcare and more housing! I give Himes credit for evolving, changing and acknowledging his changing views.

I would like you to have Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez on. She is one of the few reps from a working class background. I know she gets heat from progressives but I think we can learn from her. I would like to hear her perspective.

I know very little about Jim Hines. He speaks in a language that a lot of Americans understand -- even if it's not my favorite. And he is clearly informed and thoughtful and pragmatic about politics. It gets to the deeper quandary about what our culture should be (beneath our politics), and while it's not my perspective, it clearly represents important truths about where most of the electorate is.

What strikes me as most important of all is that we're having these tough discussions, and that so many thoughtful and motivated electeds are wading in and sloshing about. I think it's only a good thing.

And here we go: Is MAGA peaking? I say yes. I think we are about to see the temperature of resistance rise even higher than now, and that more people will show up to pitch solutions -- a ferment that I find absolutely delightful, as ugly and tortured as it is. The Trumpians are trapped in their own incompetence and ignorance, bluster and bully as they might, and I think it's wearing thin and looking more stupid by the day. We're going to suffer more pain and destruction before we're done, but that will drive the case deeper. My only question is whether we'll have the energy, once we start fixing things, to go all the way, to undo the causes for this shit, so they don't rear their head again (Off with their heads!)

one answer to how to get information about the budget process- Representative Melanie Stansbury from New Mexico does daily blasts on Facebook about the details of what's going on in the house- She's very detailed and articulate- I'm sure she's also on Bluesky and Instagram and probably twitter too

Ross Barkan is pretty young in his thinking and a bit arrogant.

Don't be naive. Trump looks weakened; but, his regime is not yet...
