My chat with the leader of Run for Something about where we go after No Kings, what the Democratic Party can learn from Zohran Mamdani, and why the antidote to fascism may start at your dinner table
Love this. Involved with a couple of local projects working to build community in new ways and excited that younger people are running for office. I am taking the opportunity to encourage my fellow elderly electeds to take their deserved rest and get out of the way
This interview reveals one of the most impressive statements I have heard made about democratic party. We seem more focused on meeting immediate perceived needs of the public rather than improving how to make our core believe system the preferred choice.
I really love the final few sentences of this dialogue, where Amanda says - Trump has done the work of pulling everything down - now how can we dream something better to build back? That is what interests and inspires me at this time. Yes, I'm heartbroken to see so many people hurt by this heartless man, but I certainly believe that we can create amazing change out of the destruction. Can - and must! I hope the spectacle of the destruction of the East Wing of the White House is a call to action. It is such a metaphor. Who can possibly prefer a bad-taste, golden ballroom to health care for all, or affordable housing, or any number of things to benefit us all? I am encouraged by what she says - that there are very talented people thinking along these lines, to design a future that we can all agree is what we, in this country, can aspire to.
on the question Anand asked about how the gop “works at a civilization level” - my response to that is that I feel like the gop big money and institutions are “true believers” in white christian nationalism intertwined with grifters and opportunists: 80’s televangelism evolving into mega churches, turning point establishing high school “clubs”, homeschooled kids - all grounded in the true believer framework
Why can't we have smart, energized people like you two at the tip of the spear for Democrats and democracy. Reasonable, measured and frankly inspiring. One would hope people like you will lead in future decades. You give me hope for my grandchildren.
Great interview. I'm ready to host some dinners! I want the younger gens to run for office so that I won't do. It is awful here in DC right now, so I am happy to have listened to this interview to be lifted up a little.
Anti-moping solutions needed!
Joined Working Families Party - wonderful to see people doing good, strategic work

I agree. We will have an election and we will win. We should be thinking about what we will do with the win.

Always being “on” is a recipe for burnout
I love working with RFS to help get young candidates ready for public service!!

Thank you!! Glad you left feeling hopeful.

Are your guests aware of the purpose for getting together? Perhaps they don't realize that returning the favor is necessity of honoring your gift?
It’s manners. Not the purpose.
