I was at the event last night, and it was very good. Much needed “intervention”- as we’re trying to endure the ongoing psychological warfare and abuse from this raging corpse of a president and his ghouls.
I think there’s a tendency of folks who are under daily psychological assaults to internalize the abuse, and to feel like they’re losing their footing.
But in this intervention, Rebecca and Anand stretched the canvass that we’re living in - so we can see longer timelines, a bigger picture, more possibilities.
Yes…exactly…bravely…building on the brilliant minds who are able to guide the USA to a ‘better place’.
While narcissists do ‘their’ thing, the Americans now under attack and threat of death in some cases, will congregate to plan for the post-Trump era. 👍
Canada has Healthcare. America will get it too. And the other element has been in the ‘offing’ for centuries: “TRUE” EQUALITY FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS, REGARDLESS OF RACE, CREED, OR SEX.
Words do not make actions…or even thoughts!
The psyche of the USA must change, and I am most hopeful - after listening to the Olympic athletes - that true change is coming from the ENLIGHTENED GENERATION!
IGNORANCE IS RULING, RIGHT NOW, but it cannot sustain its chokehold on the nation for long.
Witness the ‘RISING of the PATRIOTS’ against the aggressive threat to Democracy. There is THE WAY FORWARD.
I have a few of Rebecca Solnit’s books and get her posts on my Facebook feed, but this is the first time I have heard her speak. I tend toward a darker view of our country, politics and world, so hearing her speak and reading her writings as well as yours, Anand, helps to keep me moving forward more peacefully, if not joyfully. I am stubborn and I do not easily give up . Hooray for me and for both of you!
Anand, As usual, terrific interview! I'm old and I can second that life was indeed more authoritarian in the US on a local level and in the home when I was young!
If I may be superficial for a moment, your outfit for that interview was FAB-U-LOUS! Wherever did you find it?
Loved this. When I read or hear either of you, I can feel my brain cells morphing… you have ways of articulating and tying ideas together in a productive, positive and yes hopeful direction that is so needed right now. Thank you. Our world is better than theirs - so let’s NEVER FUCKING SURRENDER. 🔥
These two are a perfect combo for anyone feeling hopeless in this current chaos. I’m looking forward to reading Rebecca Solnit’s new book (which I purchased from my local bookstore❤️📚😊).
Her book arrived in today's mail and I really enjoyed this great interview. Tonight I will begin the book and will be much more alert while reading it. Thanks much!
I love The Ink, and Anand. This interview was a disappointment overall. The name-dropping, the vague, non-specific answers. Rebecca Solnit, genius, has been seduced by her fame and her access. Is it wrong to say this out loud? Maybe. I'm sorry for that. You can delete the comment. But seriously, it's like how I felt when you talked with E-Z Klein: it's exciting to be the expert, especially when remunerated, and when you cannot fathom how people actually suffer. A particularly salient point you made with E-Z, no people of color and very few women implicated in the Epstein files. We can make a similar observation about San Francisco and Homeland Solnit for all its exemplary miracles: qui bono? Smug whitey.
I'm confident, Anand, you accept that sometimes the only answer is to burn it all down. Thank you. Keep doing the right thing.
