Add to the list of monsters (and these may outrank Rubio, Musk and even Trump): Homan, Miller, and Leavitt.

to the question: "Has Trump managed to unite Canada behind Mark Carney’s Liberals to break the spell of incumbent-itis? We’ll find out in today’s elections".

Writing from Canada, we can only hope! The initial shock of Trump's CUSMA violating tariffs has worn off a bit, and the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on the 'con' bots and disinformation campaign to discredit PM Carney are clogging social media with vitriol and distortions. I will say that Trump's blast today about Canada becoming the 51st state could be the jolt we need to help people remember the true state of play. Poilievre is just a weak-kneed Trump acolyte following the Stephen Harper (previous PM) IDU authoritarian playbook, and Mark Carney is the leader Canada and the world needs to navigate this new geopolitical landscape. Even Ian Bremmer calls him a 'generational mind' - what a gift that he has stepped up in this moment to defend Canada against the banality/predations of Trump and his oligarchic ilk. ELBOWS UP CANADA!!!

Carney is a born leader! If PP is a weak-kneed acolyte of a weak-all-over guy, sheesh. Trump has shown he has leveraged all his cards and built such a house of fantastical bullshit and fantasy that ppl around the world see the vacuous lout sitting, farting sleeping, lying his way thru incompetence and ignorance. I use that word ignorance haltingly, because usually I just associate it with not having heard something before, whether willfully or not. But, Donald is a mess of vague,ingrained,half-formed, gaseous, ephemeral, often incomplete(as in a historical sense) and very erroneous ideas that have lodged in his brain over decades, and with cognitive decline they are getting messier. He is whack-a-moling our country because he takes actions without researching the consequences prior. Tariff, tariff, tariff!! He has no idea the people, systems, businesses, corporations he is decimating every time one thing fails and he takes a drastic swing the other way. So deluded is a much better adjective than ignorant, in this instance. Deluded feels a little weak and overused. Maybe more like out of his fucking mind‼️‼️‼️⁉️⁉️⁉️

Re Trump’s corruption, I think we are beyond surprise, beyond outrage. It’s more that we know it’s wrong but it’s all become so commonplace, yet another piece of garbage to add to the superfund site that has been dumped on the American landscape for years now, thus empowering the wealthy at the expense of the rest of us. Trump, I think, has a plan—or his minions have devised one for him. He is trying to bring down the country, just like Putin wants him to do, in exchange for a palace somewhere with a nice golf course.

To the agents who grabbed a very young child with stage 4 cancer so he could be removed from treatment and sent to Honduras: You will never be able to claim you weren’t at fault. Your duty as human beings was to do something, anything, to protect this innocent life. How did you allow yourselves to be part of the despicable, putrid regime in which we’ve all become ensnared? Good people have to step up and do good things. I guess that’s my answer.

The National Catholic Reporter has an article very well done and documented by Tom Roberts - distinguished reporter for years - Anand's comments last Monday re JD Vance's last visit with Pope Francis caught my curiosity for deeper clarification and synchronicity brought more information this morning - I highly recommend the link for an enlightening read into the dark side of Trump's religiosity.

Regarding the shelves being empty......the shelves are made in china also.....so we will only see EMPTY stores.............

Does anyone know how the state lawsuits are going saying that it is illegal for Trump to use tariffs at all since we are not "at war" with any country. His reason for using his Tariff power is the main Scam and the courts can stop him. MY fear is if that happens, he will declare MARTIAL LAW....

Starting to read the article about Signal chats. What strikes me is the likely insularity and arrogance that came with these particular groups. To compare them to the thoughtful letters of the 17th century seems a stretch. Jeffrey Rosen spoke about this on PBS recently - the letters on virtue of the founding fathers, with recognition that they kn that slavery amounts to avarice. https://pbs.org/video/jeffrey-rosen-q9gnfa?source=social

These chats versus friendship and reading -

I am so concerned about so many Americans not taking action and just not seeing what is happening.

I know protests are growing but what will it take to really stop slowing Trump down? And what will it take those who are just sitting back and looking to Congress to do something different.

On Substack we are preaching to the choir.

I am involved in building protests in my City of Western WA via Indivisible but it doesn’t seem to slow it down.

I am thinking a National Strike Day but there just doesn’t seem the outrage is big enough yet to make it a success.

There needs to be a bigger coalition of organizations - hopefully the anti MAGA MURDER BUDGET will get people moving cuz the GOP is fast tracking and even in the dead of night.

Anand - what should we do?
