Writing a book is lonely until it isn’t. Now begins the part when it isn’t. Hooray!
I am a strange mix of excited, nervous, proud, terrified, and impatient to get MAN IN THE MIRROR into the world, on September 29. But I have much less complicated feelings about coming to meet all of you. About that, I am unreservedly thrilled.
Honestly, book tour is one of the best parts of my work. Not all writers like it. Some say they write to avoid such human contact! But for me, it’s the honor of this work.
I am ready to give the world this book and ready to meet you and talk with you and record funny videos with you for your spouse and sign your books and learn from you about the ways these ideas show up in your life. Something I’ve learned along the way is that every book acquires more ideas after it is published, because of the people you meet and what they share with you afterward.
So let’s meet! Here is what I dream of: Ink community members packing the rafters at every stop. Sure, we’re going to let in everyone. But for me, it all starts with you, because without you, the writing I do wouldn’t be possible. I mean that.

I’m so happy I’m going to meet many of you at one of the current tour stops. I hear all of you about the places I’m not yet coming. But two things: One, this is just a starter list, and the list grows with time. But second: If you want me to come to your city, get a great local bookstore or other institution to invite me! Unfortunately, I can’t just show up and start declaiming in the town square. Someone generally has to host you. So if I’m not coming to the South right now, for example, or Philly, or wherever, it’s not because of me; it’s because we don’t have a host yet, and publishers have very limited budgets these days to send you places! I would be more than thrilled to make these other places happen if you all have bookstores or other venues you love that would love to host.
