It's hard to disagree with this approach. But when it comes to working with those with whom we disagree, there must be good faith on both sides. At the national level, the bipartisan immigration bill was an example of coming together to find common ground. But it was killed because T told his people to kill it. At the local level, I belong to two small organizations that seem to be microcosms of the national divide, with efforts to come together on policies that affect all of us being stymied by bad faith. We sit down to discuss and agree on actions only to have that action undermined in the end by those who want to flex their muscles--usually white men who have traditionally held the power in those organizations. I'd like this approach to work, but so far I'm not seeing it.

thank you! I was really happy to read this and hear such wisdom from a young person who hasn't totally dropped out or gone headlong into "self care" but is sticking in there and finding creative ways to function. Inspiring.
