After reading your very rich “how to” piece, I felt stuffed but not sated. There’s still a lot of meat on those hawk-ravaged chicken bones! Perhaps ours is a problem that can only be solved by a gifted unifying leader, which Kamala Harris may turn out to be just as JFK was until he was assassinated. Perhaps she could reinstate a ban on assault weapons, which would seem like a miracle to the entire nation. Perhaps our media should cease being driven by ratings and money. Hah! Perhaps we the people would take a long break from social and other media and, instead, read old books by wise men, like Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations. You could say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

Perfectly stated Anand. Let me give it a whirl: I was saddened to hear, and of course disavowed, the deplorable actions of a the alleged assassin. What a troubled soul who could purchase the preferred weapon of our US adversaries to plan and try an execute a murderous act on our once elected potus. Therefore, I suggest with a heavy heart, the former potus should drop out of the race, put up a high wall around his course and play golf every day to the content of his pea-size lizard brain. Let’s be safe out there and don’t forget to send out some thoughts and prayers.

Start with our shared values (no political violence), but call out the villains and their motives (convicted felon and MAGA enablers have been using fear & hatred to divide & distract and have no issue with violence against the ‘other’), and end with a vision of what, together as voters, we can do again (elect Dems up and down the ballot who will protect our families from gun violence, protect our futures from climate devastation AND protect our freedoms—including if, when or hoe to start or grow a family)!
