Wow that guy can talk. I wanted to hear more Anand. Sigh. :)

I wish you hadn’t been cut off. I wanted to hear what you had to say and not a listing of things we all know already by the host (who loves the sound of his own voice.)

It was your perspective I tuned in to hear!

Joe may think he only needs to address the US, but the last 10 years have proved that that is a very narrow-minded viewpoint! Had to stop listening to him.

Thank you for what you said Anand….though I’m not a fan of Joe. Good for her to mention immigrant names. I am a white woman and there have been so many immigrants that have been killed by ICE. Mainstream media does not talk about them!! 🌊🌊

I know that nicing the camps to something of a less aggressive stance is the way of the USA. No. A concentration camp is what they are. Please stop flattening the language to make people ‘feel better’. I know it lets people sleep and pretend. If you kidnap people and punish them in these places - forbid medical care, feed them garbage and toxic water? Those are not ‘internment’ camps. Those are not detention centers. Those are not detainment camps. We did it to the Japanese in WW II and for not good reason. Gathering up the indigenous and putting them in harsh conditions that settlers didn’t want? Same idea. Time to step up and call it out. We must stop the pretense of these light little words.

I just subscribed. I work at FH in the Silver Center, the unit for the older members. I was at the book event the other night and it was wonderful. I’ll be reading your book and possibly be part of the book club. Thank you for all your hard work on the book and all that you do. Lisa Swerdlow, LMSW

Wonderfully thoughtful and articulate comments, Anand.

Great point, Anand, about the Democratic party in this election. It felt to me like the party was mostly very democratic, with strong solidarity across the obvious differences. Of course, that's not withstanding the fundraising emails and texts from the party itself. Oh, and that exception by Haley Stevens.

I'm sure I'm not alone in giving money to specific campaigns only, nothing for the Democratic Party until they adopt better leadership, both in and out of Washington.

Joe sure can pontificate. Would have lked to hear more from you, Anand.

Anand, your patient listening and facial demeanor was amazing. Consider Joe's comments about SCOTUS doing the right thing (yikes); him saying you weren't being rational and full of unjustified fear--consider Alex Pretti and Renee Good being killed. Nine years later a lot has changed from what Joe was so sure would protect us.

Wow! Joe’s comments from the 2016 video did not age well at all…. Anand read the room and got it right. Too bad too few people were hearing him out and taking his fears seriously.

And here we are…… with a lot of work ahead of us. I am hopeful now that we have come through this election on the side of democracy. Please fellow citizens, let’s stay motivated and insist on accountability along with action to make our lives better. I do believe we CAN have nice things. Let’s make it happen.

On that list of To Do’s, one of the first items that should be dealt with immediately - before tearing down Trump’s various monstrosities or anything else, is to investigate who is imprisoned in detention centres; giving them their rights under habeas corpus and freedom as legally appropriate.

To the extent there are actually criminals there, they should be given the same treatment as every other person, including prison if that is the correct legal treatment.

I am ashamed that I didn’t say this sooner. Innocent people have been locked up, starved in some cases, denied medical treatment, and some have died. Children have been left, without parental care, suddenly and without explanation.

That cannot stand a minute longer than necessary.

That segment from 8 minutes on is so clarifying - re who stood up and who didn’t.

That was wonderful and not to ever be forgotten.

Anand, you were so right 10 years ago. Joe was partially correct about the systems holding up (not the Supreme Court though) but your perspective was closer to what has been happening in our country. Love your perspective and hope for the future.

One of the MAIN valid criticisms of Morning Joe in particular, since before Trump madness began

Your back to backs on Morning Joe from ten years apart leaves me feeling more not less cynical. Many of us occupy this space with cautionary vibes because it's not a choice it's a calling. We look at life through a lens that isn't mainstream especially when our whole careers have been the "finance and business" community.

Who are we? For my subset, we are white, female, financial types feeling alone in the wilderness. We are saddled with the denial of a history of that has kept us from fully reflecting on the good and the bad over our 250 year history.

The repercussions come out in the bean counting (symptoms) but not often enough in the discourse (causes). This keeps us from being our best through the infrastructure and the institutions we create. It's not just about money and taxes, etc. it's about us as a healthy community.

We have a long way to go. And Anand, you keep writing and opining on our humanity and our common struggles because we need you more than ever. PS-We are one race that rose from the primordial ooze of Africa. Too much? Okay, one step at a time.
