I wonder if any bright economist has put together an economic prospectus aimed at convincing billionaires that THEY would be better off if the working and middle classes were solid and secure?

I keep saying that we have too many Paul Reveres and not enough George Washingtons, and in one sense, Cory Booker was a Paul Revere. That being said, he inspired me with his moral beauty, to at least continue to be a foot soldier, while waiting for a George or Georgina to emerge.

We should call Cory Booker and thank him for his stand in front of the Senate. And also encourage encourage him to send the $900,000 he took from AIPAC and tell them to shove it up their ass.

Best conversation yet between A&A. Thank you.

Yesterday's Rose Garden performance (speaking of being performative) so reminded me of The Hunger Games. People clapping and yahooing for tariff annihilation. So many things about Trump and Trumpism feel like The Hunger Games to me. It is all surreal. Musk dressing like he is in a computer simulation (which he thinks he is) like maybe Neo from the Matrix, or even President Snow from The Hunger Games. Bizarre. But on another note. I am surprised by the number of people I know who are too worried about safety to go to Saturday's rally. They are opting-out already because of fear. This concerns me. We are going to need crowds to grow and surge on a regular basis over an extended period of time. Wondering how to inspire the middle-class to become brave and to understand people don't get to opt out. Last comment, re: messaging. Trump wants to turn the USA into a rogue state so he can rule it like Kim Jong Un.

Annnnd another thing…the senators who were there supporting Booker with their questions, a) were at a disadvantage to project the same energy as his, b) provided a humble connecting thread between the regular old Dem message and how Booker would take it to greater heights and give it some life and c) it was an opportunity for them all to show solidarity, them for him and him for them.

Sorry couldn’t hear this live. A rich conversation! Messaging is critical to connection and vice versa. I think that’s why Cory Booker broke through on more than the level of the symbolic, which is the most “performative” level. I mean, Trump opened his campaign in Waco Tx, a symbolic act 😵‍💫 Booker spoke both to the painful realities of people’s lives and how this relates to things like a moral moment. He was all heart. He always has been.

What is Trump’s “real” favorite word? It’s not tariff. It’s bankruptcy. This is the one thing he’s very good at.

Indifference to every legal pathway to personal and familial sustainability seems apparent in all of the policies regarding American participation in fair trade. Fairtrade might be the most reasonable approach to fighting inflation because being on good terms with governments worldwide helps maintain a strong democracy. As the world sees the best and the worst of us as a superpower, it poses the question of what we should be doing better from the standpoint of moral values that demonstrate an understanding of problem-solving derived from the country’s rich diversity.

I appreciate your work and I just have to chime in that pushing outdated stereotypes about librarians perpetuates the problems you are trying to counter. Training for library work is about being a public figure and the responsibilities of that. Branch out a bit and talk to ALA. Librarians don’t shhh people anymore that is so severely outdated.
