Perhaps we can take a moment to honor Bill Moyers who passed today at the age of 91. Among his many prescient quotes, here’s one we should consider as many embark on single proprietor publishing on Substack, et al.

“you do not get rewarded for telling the hard truths about America in a profit-seeking environment.”

Such a profoundly true comment by Mr. Moyers. It underlies everything that happens politically in this country – and everything that doesn't happen.

I think Brad is proof that Zohran is not an enemy of progressive Jews

Oh so happy to comment. I am an 83 year old democratic socialist. That means I am an educated person who knows the REAL definition of the word not the McCarthy era boogie man fear mongering blah blah blah. I am thrilled that New Yorkers paid attention. The message will eventually resonate when enough people realize that the age of tRump is the age of idiocy. Social democrat sounds better, but then everything in Europe sounds better.

Thanks so much for writing this comment Rosemary-it is stunning to see how many people (who should know better) keep misusing the "democratic socialist'. Agree, everything does sound better, 47 is such a low bar!

I'd like to know the identity of the political genius who thought it was a good idea to bring Bill Clinton in to attempt to salvage the Cuomo campaign. Apparently Jeffrey Epstein was unavailable?

This was a fabulous podcast. All 3 guests were insightful and authentic. I particularly enjoyed Brad Lander and hope he stays in the public domain. We need him and I think Zohran does too. We need to embrace their philosophy and friendship.

I love Brad Lander. He's so smart. The thing about charisma is interesting. I personally listen to the message. That's what surprises me about tRump. Everything out of his mouth has always been garbage. WTF do people hear? Now that I have heard this conversation and really listened, all I can say is WOW. Thank you for being you. Yes, you and Jamie could do great things in D.C.

I am 82 --- I grew up under the fear of socialism; but, Dems have to get comfortable with that -- SS and Medicare are not socialism... helping people is not socialism -- RUssia did not help their people, China is an autocracy/oligarchy etc

Technically it is… the right weaponizes the word to scare people. It’s not a bad word compared to capitalism when it’s corrupt.

I grew up hiding under desks. Times and philosophies move along. Democratic socialism is completely different and not tricky to grasp. Joy of aging- seeing an idea mature

Democratic Socialism is a tautology. If it isn’t democratic, it isn’t socialism- no matter what the autocrats and dictators find convenient to say

This is a brilliant chat. I am in such a great mood. I love Waleed. I'm a longtime Bernie supporter and know how important Waleed has been. And he's just so adorable. I long ago adopted him has my honorary grandson since I have no children. All of Anand's chats are fantastic, but this one was totally off the chart. Just like the NYC election. Today, I have hope. Sending so much love to all of you. It was so important that Waleed brought up the institutional validators which the progressive movement just can't reach. I still believe that is what defeated Bernie in 2016 and 2020, It was the only thing that kept Mamdani from a more massive victory. Thanks again for this wonderful chat. I look forward to Mamdani's and our future.

Regarding collaborative governing, in ‘24 I was wishing that all the Dem contenders would run as a cabinet, Warren Sec of Treasury, Buttigieg Defense, etc. I thought it would be so refreshing and appealing.

I proposed exactly that scenario 50-60 years ago. :) Still think it's a great idea. Too bad they're not listening us, huh?

I live in NYC and I really appreciate this interfaith relationship between Brad and Zohran. I am a member of an amazing org called the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom. Jewish and Muslim women connecting and taking on the hard topics with deep respect. We need more of this.
