Since you are talking about authoritarian leaders and don’t understand combined powers. I would like to suggest two books. One by Anne Applebaum, Authoritarian Inc., and Strongman. I read it both last year. And gives you a deep understanding of what’s going on today. As of yet I can’t comment on our current book club as yet as I just started it. But, I’m not a scholarly reader. And the author approaching the topic for even me to understand.
They have no idea what they're talking about. I grew up in the fifties. By the time I was seven and my sister was four, my parents were divorced and we were living with my narcissistic mother who was "boy-crazy" and promiscuous. My father married a woman who hated us and didn't want us around. Do these idiots think they're going to legislate that kind of stuff away?
These people with their dark fantasies should not be anywhere near the nexus of power. They are simply fools with money.

Thanks, Susan--I've read both of those books. Great suggestion!
