“Some Democrats are finally waking up and realizing that woke is broke,” Maureen Dowd wrote in her Times column after the election.

It is a typical, and potentially controversial, reaction to the election results earlier this month. But we want to know what you think.

The question we have for you today is a big one. How can Democrats defend the many identities and groups, many of them marginalized, that are vital to their coalition and their idea and sense of purpose — while also speaking more universally to Americans? Did Democrats focus too much on catering to each, without thinking about how to deliver a message to all? And can that be changed?
