Crowd-counting is very difficult, so we're going with the initial estimates given by the organizers and a couple of seasoned independent analysts who've been accurate in the past. There probably won't be a more exact count for days or weeks.
I believe the events last weekend prove a majority of Americans will not "stand back and standby" but instead will stand up and speak truth to power forcefully and peacefully as long as the other side doesn't trash the Constitution beyond recognition.
I think the one sided turn out shows that people do not want a king. I think we really need to convince Congress that going along with Trump is a bad idea, and that they’ll benefit from removing him and putting him on trial asap.
You’re right but they are not close to turning on him yet. He will have to keep dividing them with his flip flopping. the war vs peace issue is already making a crack. When he goes after Tucker for his comments on starting a war with Iran will prove pivotal I believe. We’ll see. We can’t convince Congress, only the MAGA voters can do that now short of a cataclysmic event.
I’ve been waiting for a moment like this, a lot of folks are seeing they’ve been duped. I’m wondering what is the best way to reach them without making them feel attacked or stupid (because feeling attacked and stupid will turn them against anything said to to them) I wish there was a 22 step program for MAGA. Is there a way to make them feel smart simply for turning away from Trump’s craziness? Thoughts please, anyone?🥸🎓💙
They like being duped. It makes their world simple, they follow what someone tells them about their world and it all fits perfectly. They are inside the tornado. The only thing that will convince them is when true reality smashes their fake world to smithereens. But then it will be someone else's fault of course, as is always has been. Don't be fooled there are NOT a lot of of folks who see the light. We still have a solid 48% of population who think dt&co are just fine. Ick. Stoooopid.
You can’t convince them, they have to find out for themselves. I posted a shareable link to Eric Wemple’s excellent story on the near multitudes who are now regretting their votes because their lives have been either ruined or impacted. You don’t know them because they have been buried unless you’re a deep news diver.
If the Israeli yahoo puts US in a corner where it's fight or flight our isolationist MAGA crowd will deconstruct when we answer by protecting our personnel and interests and facilitate regime change in Iran. Trump will play it either way because he is TACO and has no particular beliefs.
Sorry....it was not a majority of people who showed up last weekend it was 3% or less of our population - not much turnout if you ask me, compared to what it could and should be. The dt&do regime have already made great strides to trash the constitution, actually they are doing better than that; they have pruned And continue pruning the three branches of government so that one is mighty the executive branch the others are basically being decimated, so the constitution cannot be enforced as it was designed to do. The infiltration of DOGE into the data, and the replacement of personnel (politicizing) into all operations is making the constitution less enforceable as well.
You need to first look up the 3.5% rule and then consider they are adding up the biggest events and not yet counting the 1000+ smaller events. Some crowd counters say it’s between 5-10 million. It looked like there were more in deep red Idaho’s No Kings than Trump’s low energy snooze fest.
Okay!! I looked that up... I am happy to learn this! Thanks for the heads up - But, I still think we need more people out there to make it MORE than that though! (I am a hard head, eh?!) Many who profess they support resistance are not speaking out or supporting these things... if they really think so , they need to find concrete ways to express themselves - spread out it is not as much of a burden for those who are out there all the time... It needs to be a HUGE ROAR!! 3.5% is a medium size roar, eh?! A good start! (our town had a les athan 1% deep red...) 800 out of 44,000 in town and 10,000 surrounding area in that zipcode..) Perhaps my disappointment is due to this... I was thrilled to see the huge turnouts in the big cities... very visible! let me know what else I need to know, okay?! I am all ears (even though I am lifelong deaf)!
Okay so the protests were better than the april 5th turnout - good, that is a start... but less than 3% of our population could turn out for an event like this? My town pop. approx. 44,000 and really twice that size if you include the surrounding areas that reach to where I live within the zip codes of the town, could only boast 800 +. Less than 1% how pathetic. ONE person I invited came. One! And I invited plenty - the only responses besides the one who came and said she would, was "maybe I will see you on tv?, and another said "I need to go to my sewing group" (even though she was going to be driving right past the protest location and her group did not start until well after the protest). How pathetic is that? My husband got called out on a gas call just as we were leaving, took one of our signs with him and protested in the town where he got called out to and they had all of 8 protesters!!! C'mon people get off your butts and comforting little whatevers are keeping you from getting involved in saving our country for *** - sakes! If you really cared about your little activities to continue then you would be out there protecting them and the lives of everyone else besides. Is it up to others to earn that democracy they are stealing back for you? When we all show up we spread the target out and make it harder for them to single people out to snatch or harm (it takes more effort to oppose larger groups), we show (the regime) that we all do not like what is going on, we show each other that we are real community, and that democracy matters, we find out more about what issues affect others and what they are thinking, we learn how to break through our shells of self-absorbed whatever-it-is that keeps us fearful. We find joy in our solidarity and strength to endure, and the will to keep resisting. So yeah, we had millions show up last weekend, we need to keep showing even bigger numbers with frequency - I know I am way behind on all my projects too, and I cannot really afford the extra time it takes to make more signage every week to address what is currently going on, and take the time to protest EVERY weekend like I do and neither can my husband who has joined me, but I certainly cannot afford to let this democracy be taken from me or anyone else. I DO not want my daughter to live her adult life under a repressive dictatorship. So what IS inconvenient? Taking the time to be the resistance or letting them boil us in our own juices while they drain the life from us? Out of our whole town we get ONE other person who joins us. ONE! We need to be persistent, and many. Get out there people! If you are not, you really do not care enough. Wherever you are. When I did not have a car to use one weekend, I protested at the end of our driveway on the busy rural route and protested there. If you have to work every single day all day long, wear a button large enough for people to read to and from work, or at work if they do not fire you for it! Be creative and show resistance. Just do it.
Sigh. YOU NEED TO STATE HIS ACTUAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE. We need to hear, constantly, of the actual number of people at his events. This was absent in the 2024 campaign, and is grossly missing in almost every story. the only number that is stated is his bullshit number. We need to be up front and out there and the first to state it! You know - if, in fact, size matters.
I find the size matters joke among Democrats to be extremely discriminatory and offensive. It negates many men and contributes to the feeling that Democrats don’t care about them.
We need more people to show up, and crowd size does matter. It makes the protests more visible, and shows that more folks are against what the regime is doing rather than indifference or acceptance. I do not know of any joke, but the number of people who participate does matter a lot. If that offends someone, then perhaps whoever is offended and think past that story or poor joke, and know that this is not about them, and rethink how they approach resistance. If you can think of another way to state it I am all in! I do not use that phrase myself, but I do ask more people to join me protesting whenever I can. We need to see that the umbrella encompasses many differing ideas and approaches, but that the common thing is that we resist authoritarianism and suppression of ways in which we can all flourish. Tell your pals not to fret. We are not talking about them, we are urging people to protest and resist this regime.
I agree with everything you’re saying. The size matters meme specifically refers to penis size. I feel like it’s hurtful to men. maybe that clarifies my remarks.
I know that saying does mean that - I do not understand why people say it though - it would hurt (their partners) even more if these things were too huge. Big boobs are a weird thing to want also, they get in the way, and can be uncomfortable, sweaty, etc.. Why does everyone always want BIG endowments when normal sized ones are just as functional?
Also, we still do need big turnouts to protests getting back to the original conversation..
Came here to say just this: Alt Nat'l Park Service had 140,000 observers across the country. Their final tally for the day's events was 13.14 million across 2,300+ protests. I don't know where the (more widely) reported 5 million comes from--a little checking seems to indicate that the source is Indivisible, which has yet to (publicly) update its initial 5M estimate...why/why not?
Why is there such an enormous discrepancy in the reported numbers of NO KINGS protesters.
Understand a number of protests overlapped Pride events... but some saying 7, 11, 13 million....
This is the lowest count noted - other than on some corporate "news" media that reports thousands showed for the protests around the country....

We should ask the press secretary.

Charlie Sykes and Adam Kinzinger are the ones to answer this question and to lead a movement of people who were once Trump voters.
Thank you!
Also, Amanda Carpenter
Ha ha, that's Catch 22:-) but you may be on to something! As soon as I stop laughing I'll work on it. 🤣
12 step program 😆
