We are abandoned by the very institutions we created for our mutual safety and benefit.

Regulatory capture referred to industries taking over agencies that enforced policies Congress enacted to protect us, in order to protect their profits.

It has been expanded to the takeover of our Courts, Congress, Agencies, and the Presidency by a cabal of a transnational criminal syndicate bent on authoritarian dominance. A brutal mafia.

It's been 50 years in the making.

Gerald Ford never should have pardoned Nixon.

A flash flood starts with a cloud.

I've been going to a gym by my job for the last 3 years. Women from a nearby shelter take showers there. I am not sure if it's something they've worked out or they pay the gym membership to take a shower. Generally it's the same group of women, with all their possessions in a suitcase and a few other bags. They are always there only to shower. At first I thought it was great. Everyone deserves the dignity of being clean, at the very least. And the gym is probably safer than the shelter. Over time though, I've seen them get into fights, have mental health episodes, leave garbage all over the place, take showers with the curtains open so water gets everywhere and other assorted episodes. Sometimes I am in the shower when this happens. It's not ideal & sometimes I don't feel safe. I can tolerate quite a bit having lived in NYC for most of my life. Still I wish there was a better way. I put my head down and deal.

Last month we had a new person from the shelter who could have been a women or a man. I was in the shower and I heard another gym member start yelling at the new person. I got out and saw them standing there with an erection. This is obviously not great. The person had been hanging out in the locker room for quite some time. They gym sends this young woman in all by herself to confront the erection person. Thank goodness they leave without incident. I was a little freaked out. I should feel safe in the locker room.

I think about you writing about Jordan Neely a lot when these things happen. I tolerate it. What else can I do?
