I was moved by this post Anand. Such a thoughtful article about our responsibility to future generations. Thank you for reminding all of us of how to process these painful events.

Clear, evocative, intelligent writing encapsulating the moral crisis in which we are living. I read it as a prayer, a meditation, a reminder.

Republicans disregard the effects of climate change that will cause their own children and their offspring to suffer, all for monetary gain now.

They don't even care about their own families, let alone the rest of us. We're just collateral damage that they cast aside on their way to the bank.

Condolences to the victims of this and other (un)natural disasters. Until we vote in people who care and are knowledgeable about trying to remedy the effects of climate change, we are all at risk. We've already lost years of potential progress under George W. Bush and the felon.

Who are you going to be able to tell your own kids that you voted for, when we get to the point of no return?

It’s all just horrifically cellular and celestial level gut wrenchingly painful. We grieve. And. We know.

I wonder why those Christians don’t interpret this as I do if I were a Christian… that their God is angry with their misguided beliefs and co-opting of the religion to persecute everyone else in this country?

You have beautifully put into words what I have reflected on for several years. I’m a grandmother and worry deeply about the world they and their children will inherit. I’ve stopped taking airplanes, become vegetarian and am preoccupied with climate change science. Hardly makes a dent, but keeps the issue present for me. Also, recommending one join Third Act to know other grandparents worried about the future.

For any who might be curious about human connections to divine responses I encourage an investigation of Divine Tempest As a Psychic Phenomenon by David E. Schoen, Inner City Books.

"The hypothesis of Divine Tempest is that the hurricane is a universal symbol of the Self in its most primordial form. The author explores the world views of both aboriginal and modern cultures to paint a vivid picture of how humankind has related to this cataclysm of nature, inwardly and outwardly, for millennia."

I learned in Sunday School that the Great Flood was about Regime Change rather than Climate Change.
